Hardstanding area restoration
Boskalis, the principal contractor for the PoA Cable Route Foreshore Works, will carry out restoration works on the temporary hardstanding area, prior to the start of Phase Two of the Cable Route Foreshore Works.
The work will involve using excavators to remove the hardstanding area that was used to support vehicles and equipment during Phase One. The materials will be transported offsite, after which the area will be restored. These works are expected to last approximately two weeks, subject to project progress.
Dune Valve works
United Infrastructure (UI), the principal contractor for the Main Onshore Pipeline, is set to carry out Q10 sampling and non-destructive testing (NDT) of the existing gas pipeline at Warren Farm. Q10 sampling involves scraping a small sample of the pipeline to confirm its chemical composition and material grade, while NDT is used to assess the condition of the pipeline without causing any damage. These works will require excavating a small area to access the pipeline and are part of standard preparations for connecting the new pipeline.
As part of these works, residents may notice a small, controlled working area with specialist equipment and on-site personnel. This includes:
Activities will take place Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00 and Saturdays from 08:00 to 13:00, with an additional hour either side for site preparation and close-down.
Traffic
Residents and visitors may notice increased vehicle movements, including HGVs in and around Warren Farm and on Station Road. Where practicable, vehicle movements will be scheduled at times of the day to minimise disruption.
No road closures are planned.
Noise and vibration
Some temporary noise and vibration may be experienced during these works, including from equipment and vehicle movements. These impacts will be carefully managed and kept to a minimum in line with relevant legislation.
Upcoming works on Talacre beach
The works outlined above will take place ahead of Phase Two of the PoA Cable Route Foreshore Works. This will involve the lay and burial of a new combined electrical and fibre optic cable on Talacre beach using a plough and excavators, before being taken out towards the New Douglas Offshore CCS Platform by a specialised cable laying vessel. These works are expected to take place in Summer 2026, subject to project progress. More information will be provided prior to these works commencing.
